  • Posted on Wednesday 5th, September 2018.

The Australian Road Transport Suppliers Association (ARTSA) inducted its latest group of Life Members at a Melbourne dinner this week.

ARTSA now has 22 Life Members with the most recent inductees including: Gary Liddle, former head of VicRoads and current Enterprise Professor at Melbourne University;
John Murphy, Managing Director of Prime Creative Media, Greg Brown, Chief Engineer at MaxiTRANS and Simon Humphries, Chief Engineer at Isuzu.

According to Martin Toomey, Deputy Chairman of ARTSA and Chairman of the Life Members Committee, all four individuals have shown dedication to the heavy vehicle industry and have also contributed to ARTSA’s program in a range of ways. “It is important that we not only celebrate their achievements but we provide them with a means to continue that contribution on industry’s behalf,” he said

ARTSA also appointed three other Life Members who were unable to attend on the evening.  They were: Dr Peter Sweatman, former Chairman of ARTSA; Greg Byrnes former Chief engineer for Air Brake Corporation; and Phil Webb, Senior Engineer at PACCAR.

“Australia has a reputation as a world leader in heavy vehicle technology and we need to celebrate the individuals who have dedicated their careers to delivering this outcome,” said ARTSA Chairman, Dr Peter Hart. “ARTSA will be developing a Life Members program in 2019 to ensure the ongoing contribution from these outstanding individuals.”
