Assistant Minister to the Deputy Prime Minister to speak at VTA state conference

The Victorian Transport Association announced that the Assistant Minister to Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack, the Hon Keith Pitt, will represent the Commonwealth Government at the forthcoming state conference, commencing Sunday 18 March in the afternoon at Lorne.

“It’s terrific to have the federal government represented once again at the VTA State Conference, and we are especially pleased Assistant Minister Pitt – through his exposure to the transport and infrastructure portfolios the Deputy Prime Minister also has oversight of –  will be able to update delegates on the Commonwealth’s infrastructure program,” said VTA CEO Peter Anderson. “Infrastructure features prominently on the conference agenda, with the shadow Victorian roads minister David Hodgett also speaking, along with the CEO’s of the three biggest infrastructure authorities in Victoria, being the Melbourne Metro Rail Authority, the Western Distributor Authority, and the North East Link Authority.

The conference will also have Roads, Ports and Road Safety Minister Luke Donnellan also features on Day Two, representing the Victorian State Government.

“There is unprecedented infrastructure activity right across the Victorian and Commonwealth economies and we are pleased to have attracted such a high-profile group of speakers to address this important subject,” Mr Anderson said.

With only a few days remaining, there’s still time for members and industry participants interested in attending to register.

The VTA will continue to accept full and single day registrations for the Conference right up until this Friday, 16 March. The full conference package includes two-nights’ accommodation at Mantra Lorne, attendance at all Conference sessions, and all meals and hospitality activities, including the Welcome Reception and the Conference Dinner. The conference commences Sunday, 18 March and concludes Tuesday, 20 March.
