BRE partners with Wabash to launch new reefer range

Western Australia–based trailer builder, Bruce Rock Engineering (BRE), has partnered with North American manufacturer, Wabash National, to launch Cold Core MSC, a new range of refrigerated trailers.

The Cold Core MSC range combines Wabash’s Moulded Structural Composite (MSC) technology with BRE’s Australian chassis and build expertise to deliver trailers that are stronger, lighter and provide improved thermal efficiency for the Australian market.

The new range will be unveiled at the 2019 Brisbane Truck Show, 16-19 May.

BRE is the sole Australian distributor for Wabash trailer products.

Built in Australia, the Cold Core MSC range includes full-length chassis road train trailers or roll-back A-sections ranging in length from 10 pallet to 26 pallet.

BRE said temperature ratings for these reefers can be as low as minus 30°c.

“Many Australian freight operators are familiar with the Wabash name and the benefits that weight reductions in its products can have in increasing their load capacity,” said BRE Director, Damion Verhoogt.

“We are able to bring the same reliability, temperature control and weight performance to this new refrigerated trailer, with the build quality, option list and smooth gloss sides that Australian operators demand.

“The Cold Core MSC will be a game-changer with 25 percent better thermal efficiency than the Wabash conventional Arctic Lite reefer. This gain is increased to 50 per cent better than some rivals, which is based on field test data, not just theory,” he said.

The Cold Core MSC range includes a full range of axle and suspension options, STRENX ultra high tensile autofabricated chassis, Electronic Braking System (EBS), double loader options, multi-temp zone options, Hella lights and DG wiring as well as gloss gel coat finish (one piece moulded structural floor, roof, sides and front wall – fully bonded construction, no rivets), 100mm rood and floor insulation and 40mm side insulation, stainless steel rear frame and docking bumper and barn doors with stainless hardware or overhead roller door.

All Cold Core MSC trailers will be available with different combinations of equipment and accessories such as tool boxes, water tanks, long range fuel, and Alcoa aluminium wheels, according to BRE.

“Bruce Rock combines premium materials and components with stringent quality controls to ensure high-quality products that deliver sustained profitability for our clients,” said Verhoogt. “The Cold Core MSC range continues this philosophy combining global technology, research and development with Australian knowledge and expertise to bring to market a refrigerated trailer that has superior thermal efficiency, uses less fuel and reduces operating costs.”

Earlier this year, BRE elaborated on its exclusive use of Alcoa Ultra ONE forged aluminium wheels as part of their light, durable trailer builds.
