Butler Freight Services invests in CIMC retractable skels

  • Posted on Friday 30th, November 2018.

Melbourne-based wharf transport business, Butler Freight Services, has taken delivery of 12 retractable skels from CIMC.

The new skels will join a fleet of approximately 280 trailers ranging from super B-doubles, sideloaders, flat top bulk steel trailers, tautliners and other retractable skels.

“This is our first major trailer deal with CIMC,” said Butler Freight Services Managing Director, Adam Arkinstall.

“This order was made to assist in our growth of new business for container deliveries to our Melbourne-based customers.

“We are very impressed with the build quality and engineering that goes into CMC’s retractable trailer products,” he said – adding that CIMC Vehicle Australia General Manager, Sven Liao, and his team were very approachable and easy to deal with. “We are looking forward to this purchase being the first of many with CIMC.”

Phillip Farrar, Butler Freight Services’ Group Equipment and Maintenance Manager, worked closely with Liao and his team in designing and implementing a significant safety milestone in these retractable skels.

“All skels from the recent order have been fitted with a pressure valve brake booster arrangement that does not allow the brakes to be released until the retractable pins of the trailer are locked in.  We are very proud of Phillip's focus on safety and ingenuity in this design” said Arkinstall.

Butler Freight Services is a family owned and operated wharf transport and warehousing business that services the Port of Melbourne.
