Caltex expands fleet with unique tanker

  • Posted on Thursday 11th, January 2018.

Caltex Aviation has taken delivery of a new a 4,500 litre ‘Low Point Flusher’ rigid tanker for fuel collection work at major airports.

According to the tanker manufacturer, Holmwood Highgate, the bulk fuel tank is used at major airports to collect fuel flushed through the hydrant fueling system at the low point.

An on-board vacuum system collects contaminated fuel, water and dirt from the hydrant pits in a 1,000-litre vacuum tank. Fuel samples are checked to ensure cleanliness of the hydrant system, and the vehicle is also fitted with a 70-litre  collection tank to dispose of the samples.

Both flushing and vacuum systems feature hydraulic rewind hose reels fitted with purpose specific hoses and fittings.

"Another example of a highly specialised solution designed and built to customer specifications, in Australia, by Holmwood," the company said.
