Courier service acquires start-up to disrupt logistics market

  • Posted on Tuesday 29th, March 2016.

Sydney-based express courier service, Zoom2u, has acquired Fetchh, an Australian start-up that specialises in automating pickups, packaging and posting for businesses.

The deal marks the first acquisition for the young Zoom2u business, which is aiming to disrupt the logistics industry in Australia, according to founder, Steve Orenstein.

“The acquisition of Fetchh enables us to gain access to a wider business customer base and bring some passionate innovators into our team,” Orenstein  commented – pointing out Zoom2u has built its own service network to ensure deliveries are managed “fast and reliable”.

Offering a three-hour delivery service across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, alongside the classic same day and overnight option, Zoom2u has recently seen over 1,000 new customers signing up every month, Orenstein added.

In the early days of starting Fetchh, founders Will Jensen and Bryan Maass said they worked with several Australian start-ups disrupting traditional post and courier services.

“Among the teams we worked with, Zoom2u stood out as a game changer. Steve Orenstein had created a new system focused on the same principles that we had built Fetchh upon – customer experience, simplicity and efficiency,” Jensen commented.

“The technology Zoom2u uses, to tell customers where their couriers are, at all times, is fantastic and saves everyone so much time.”

The announcement follows Zoom2u’s recent partnership with Menulog, offering restaurants an option to outsource delivery services.
