Delta Hydraulics supplies telescopic cylinders to Mine Mac

Tasmania-based Delta Hydraulics has delivered a new range of its double-acting, annular-ported telescopic cylinders to Queensland mining equipment business, Mine Mac.

“Our annular-ported cylinders are used in reliability-critical applications like mining, where the operating environment could expose external hoses and tubes to physical damage, fire or chemical damage,” said Delta Hydraulics’ Managing Director, John White.

According to Delta Hydraulics, the double-acting, annular-ported telescopic cylinders will assist Mine Mac in transporting power cables to various mine sites across Mackay in Queensland.

“When delivering power cables, we use a customised flat top rigid with a special storage spool on the back,” said Managing Director, Norm Henry. “To reel it off or retract a cable safely, we use a tail roller fitted to a retractable arm, which is moved with the help of a multi-stage cylinder from Delta Hydraulics.

“A standard delivery would see the arm with the tail roller swung forward by retracting the cylinder. The roller freewheels and helps us lay the cable neatly on the main spool, so the cylinder is a vital component to make the whole system work.”
