MaxiTRANS unleashes a new ‘Classic’

Trailer builder, MaxiTRANS, has released its new and improved Maxi-CUBE Classic Refrigerated Van. First previewed at the Brisbane Truck Show last year, the updated model offers a reduced tare weight and greater thermal efficiency over the previous model.

“Through the use of composite material and improvements in modern manufacturing techniques, we have been able to further optimise the way we build the trailer, allowing us to increase the amount of insulation, while also reducing the trailer’s tare weight,” said MaxiTRANS General Manager – Products and Markets, Kevin Manfield.

The Maxi-CUBE Classic utilises MaxiTRANS’ unique in-house ‘cast to gauge’ foam process. This process produces exact sized panels without the need to cut or destroy important surface cells, which in turn, further maximises thermal performance.

“We have also improved thermal breaks, which means inserting a material with low thermal conductivity between internal and external materials to reduce the thermal path between inside and outside temperatures, to better assist with keeping the cold air inside the trailer,” said Kevin. “The inclusion of a fully moulded door seal, increased insulation via a redesigned front wall and floor module, as well as fibreglass dress cappings in the interior corners, further add to the thermal advantages.”

Independent testing showed that these changes resulted in a thermal efficiency improvement of up to five per cent on a standard 22-pallet reefer, when compared to the previous Classic model.

The new Classic also features a lightweight full width skid plate, enabling drivers to unhook the trailer at sideways angles rather than straight on. The modular design of the skid plate means it can be easily repaired or replaced if damaged, without affecting the integrity of the trailer floor.

Other upgrades include a reinforced floor and rear frame, a full-length chassis from bumper to skid plate for added strength, a 25mm increase to the internal height, brighter internal LED lighting and a redesign of the double loader bars.

“The new double loader bars are now 50 per cent lighter over the previous design, making them easier to manoeuvre into position. We’ve also been able to increase the load rating from 500 kilograms to 670 kilograms per pallet space,” said Kevin.

The new Maxi-CUBE Classic is available in Ambient, Reefer, Freezer, Chiller and Hi-Cube Reefer models.
