McAleese to double iron ore haulage at Mt Webber mine

  • Posted on Wednesday 14th, May 2014.

McAleese Resources, a wholly owned subsidiary of McAleese Limited, has announced it will double the road haulage capacity for the Mt Webber mine in WA’s Pilbara region.

Prior to Christmas, McAleese had announced its resources division was to commence haulage of three million tonnes per annum for the Atlas Iron-owned mine. The company will now be increasing its haulage capacity to meet the six million tonnes per annum mark by January 2015.

“We are extremely pleased to be awarded this additional three million tonnes  for Mt Webber and are looking forward to delivering safe and efficient services to our long term and valued customer,” said Mark Rowsthorn, McAleese Group’s Managing Director and CEO.

The additional three million tonnes per annum represent in excess of $220 million in additional revenue for the life of the agreement. McAleese Group will invest around $30 million in operating equipment and supporting infrastructure during the second half of 2014.

“We have expanded our Port Hedland facility and are continuing to grow our operational capacity in the Pilbara,” Mr Rowsthorn added.
