New $10M overpass in Tasmania

  • Posted on Tuesday 10th, October 2017.

The Tasmanian Government is moving ahead with design work on a new $10 million overpass to address concerns at the Leith intersections on the Bass Highway.

A statement from the state government said that it has been working with the local community and the Central Coast Council to develop the best solution to improve safety in the area, which was to build an overpass and additional interim measures at the intersection.

The overpass will be built to connect the northern and southern parts of Leith Road, removing the need to turn right on and off the Bass Highway.

It is expected to take two years to build, with electronic warning signage to be installed as an interim safety measure.
