Panus Semi-Trailers strengthens Spiral fleet

Panus Semi-Trailers has revealed a new collaboration with Melbourne transport company, Spiral Logistics.

According to Panus, the company has seen productivity levels “increase significantly” since taking on two flat-top semi-trailers from the OEM.

“Managing Director, Des Kelly, ordered the company’s first Panus flat-tops last year following a referral from a local transport and steel business,” Panus said in a media release.

“To date, the two units have been used predominantly for steel cartage around Victoria – providing measurable benefits to the new owner.”

Kelly himself commented, “We were after some innovative flat-top trailers for a contract with Orrcon, which is part of the BlueScope Steel Group.

“A local transport company in Dandenong, VIC put us onto Panus and after speaking with the team, Panus was able to deliver the two trailers at a solid price and within a short lead time.”

Kelly said the two units are able to accommodate up to 24 tonnes per load and came ready to work. “To secure the load safely, we only modified the trailers with a reinforced head board/tail board and side pins. These changes were to comply with Australia’s steel industry Code of Practice. Spiral Logistics is a signature to the Code of Practice and fully complies.”

According to Panus, the flat top order tops off a busy 12-month period for the trailer builder, which included an expansion of its product range that saw additional lightweight trailers and Performance-Based Standards (PBS)-approved models join the fold. “Our drivers are very happy with the trailers and the units have performed as required,” Kelly summarised the result from a client perspective.

Panus also paid tribute to its growing Australian service network. “Spiral is a valued customer of ours,” the company said. “We appreciate the support from our Panus dealer in Dandenong, All Star Transport, which has been terrific in looking after Spiral and servicing its needs.”
