Qube confirms cyanide cartage certification

  • Posted on Wednesday 5th, December 2018.

Logistics company, Qube, has announced it is now a certified cyanide transporter under the International Cyanide Management Code.

Qube said via LinkedIn that the Cyanide Code is a voluntary industry program for companies involved in the production of gold and/or silver using cyanide, and companies producing and transporting this cyanide.

“This certification is a recognition of Qube's continued focus on safety as the certification process involves a detailed external audit against the ICMI Code considering many aspects including vehicle design, safety systems, emergency management, journey planning, training, spill response, communication and auditing,” said Qube.

“Currently, Qube handles cyanide out of Rockingham and Kalgoorlie supplying product to key mines in the Southwest and Goldfields regions of Western Australia. To maintain this important certification, Qube must be re-audited every three years hereafter to evaluate continuing compliance with the Cyanide Code.

“Qube is excited to be expanding our scope of services to continue to provide supply chain solutions to our valued current and future customers.”

In October, Qube Chairman, Allan Davies, said 2018 was another successful year for the logistics business with increased earnings and strong contribution from its investment in Patrick allowing the Board to declare a special dividend to shareholders.
