Specialist Brisbane-based refrigerated truck hire and body building company, Scully Refrigerated Special Vehicles (Scully RSV), is steadily increasing its production rate to meet the burgeoning demand for its high quality goods and services.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer Avraam Solomon, has overseen the operation for nearly two years, and his lofty goal is to have the largest, most successful refrigerated truck hire business in the country.
This ambition is already bearing fruit as the company recently opened a hire facility in Sydney and there are plans afoot for a similar site in Melbourne.
Solomon and his family have owned transport businesses catering to the Brisbane food service industry dating back to the early 1980s, and he says this experience enables Scully RSV to provide superior tailor-made products and services specifically for the food industry.
“We’re not just a body builder that wants to build a certain number of bodies per year,” said Solomon. “We see ourselves as an integral part of the food service community, helping our customers to succeed in their businesses through the products and services we provide.”
The company builds bodies ranging in size from a standard two-pallet unit for a Toyota Hilux up to a 14-pallet jumbo for 12-tonne trucks. Every component in the build is of the highest quality and Solomon says the standard of workmanship in constructing them is second to none.
A vital component of every refrigerated body, the refrigeration unit must work efficiently and effectively day-in, day-out. For this reason, Scully RSV relies on Carrier Transicold to not only supply and install the units but also to service and maintain them Australia-wide.
“I used a lot of Carrier units in my own fleet years ago and the founder of this business, Damien Scully, had built a strong relationship with Carrier also,” Solomon said. “So, when we decided to grow the hire fleet I wanted consistency in all areas including the fridges. We specify the best products in the hire fleet because many customers who hire from us end up buying trucks from us.
“We also wanted to partner with a national company because the after-sales service of the fridges is so important,” he said. “It’s peace of mind for us knowing that the customer will get the service they need from Carrier no matter where they are in Australia.”
