Silk Contract Logistics expands its operations

  • Posted on Thursday 5th, July 2018.

Brisbane-based Container Swinglift Services has been acquired by Silk Contract Logistics the company has announced. The addition of the formerly family-owned specialist in food and agriculture since it was founded in 1986, continues Silk’s recent expansion in Queensland where it plans to add 60 pieces of trailing equipment and upwards of 30 new vehicles to its existing fleet.

Full time staff will also increase to 70 employees as the company works on developments for a new facility on the Port of Brisbane.

This follows the launch of its own Container Cartage Operations in New South Wales in late May.

The new 20,000sqm site in Yennora, an hour west of Sydney, houses a new purpose built warehouse facility giving Silk improved rail access to the Port of Sydney as it looks to expand its NSW Contract Logistics.

In a written statement Silk thanked its existing clients for their continued support as it looked ahead to developing its valued relationships.

“These initiatives signal the start of an exciting new era for the Silk business as it looks to establish itself as one of the emerging stars in the Australian logistics market,” the company said.
