The Drake Group raises mental health awareness with latest trailer delivery

Queensland-based trailer builder, The Drake Group, recently delivered a 10x8 steerable to Rio Tinto painted in Beyond Blue colours to help raise awareness of mental disorders including depression.

“This trailer is a showstopper any day of the week, but with a bit of luck when its seen travelling to Weipa in far North Queensland and out on the roads, it will inspire people to start conversations which are sometimes hard to raise,” The Drake Group said in a statement.

Beyond Blue, founded in October 2000 by Jeff Kennett, is a non-profit organisation working to address issues associated with depression, suicide, anxiety disorders and other related mental disorders.

It is said that one in five truck drivers have experienced mental health issues and have a seven per cent higher chance of developing depression. Also, about 45 per cent of people in Australia will have a period in their life affected by mental health conditions.

The Drake Group has integrated a Beyond Blue mental health training program into its workplace. The program trains staff and managers on how to recognise, deal and talk about mental health and provide easy access for help.

“It’s critical that the team know that they will be supported and have access to resources to get them through tough times,” The Drake Group said. “Having a workplace that focuses on mental health means a healthier, happier and more productive team.”

Earlier this year, The Drake Group fulfilled a large order of 12 items of trailing equipment for Centurion Transport.
