Toll engages in urgent bushfire response

  • Posted on Wednesday 13th, March 2019.

Transport and logistics company, Toll Port Kembla, were recently approached by an aviation company to urgently organise the movement of six helicopters as part of an effort to fight bushfires.

The aviation company required the helicopters to be moved from the Port Kembla wharf to Williamstown airbase Newcastle.

Due to the need for helicopters to help fight bushfires and protect people and their homes, Toll said via social media that it needed to move the unusual loads promptly and safely.

Under the supervision of Stephen Smith, Operations Manager Toll Industrial Port Kembla, Toll were able to get a great team of experienced career drivers together to ensure all requirements were met.

"It was our pleasure to be able to put together a team of dedicated drivers with over 150 years of experience between them,” said Smith. “We can always rest assured knowing that with these drivers the helicopters would arrive safely, on-time and in perfect condition. A big shout out to Russell Hutley, Alex Bojcevski, Steve Woodward and James Hall.”

In other news, DHL Supply Chain and Toll Group have both recently delivered carbon neutral industrial buildings, certified under the National Carbon Offset Standard (NCOS) for buildings.
