Transport and logistics company, Toll Group, has announced the appointment of Kate Carlile as Chief Legal Officer, effective immediately.

Carlile is a highly experienced and capable lawyer who joined Toll in early 2018 as Lead Counsel, Corporate, and has been Acting Chief Legal Officer for the past nine months.

Toll Managing Director, Michael Byrne, praised Carlile’s wealth of expertise, commenting that her appointment would further strengthen the company’s legal and compliance function.

“Ms Carlile brings a focus on customers and a deep understanding of the legal and compliance issues that are critical for Toll’s diverse, global business which operates in more than 50 countries around the world,” said Byrne.

He added that Ms Carlile’s appointment followed an extensive global candidate search, reflecting the strength and quality of Toll’s global leadership team.

“Ms Carlile has already made a significant contribution throughout her time at Toll,” said Byrne. “Her strong values and leadership will continue be an important asset to the team.”

Prior to joining Toll, Carlile held senior roles with leading international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills, where she spent 17 years in Melbourne and London, advising large multinational companies on corporate and commercial matters in Australasia, Europe and North America.
