    Alfons Haar PreciPURE metering system

Fuel Distributors Western Australia (FDWA) has been providing a specialised fuel delivery service to its customers across the state’s metro region and wheatbelt for more than 16 years. Travelling as far west as Esperance and north to Geraldton, the FDWA tanker fleet consists of a variety of configurations from road trains to rigids – most recently built and delivered by ATE Tankers.

“We took delivery of an ATE Tankers built semi tanker and a rigid truck late last year, bringing our total fleet up to around 50 tankers,” says FDWA Fleet Workshop Manager, Graham Lock – adding that he organised to have the new rigid fitted with pumping equipment from Alfons Haar. “We’ve been using Haar equipment ever since it was introduced into Australia, because it lets us make fast, accurate fuel deliveries to our customers,” he explains.

According to Ivan Lawrie, Director of Haar Australia, the system featured on FDWA’s new rigid tanker is designed specifically to fit on the smaller vehicles, while still allowing a delivery of up to 600 litres per minute (lpm) via a bulk outlet, or approximately 120 lpm through a 60m hose reel.

“One of the pump’s main benefits is its size and design,” Ivan explains. “It’s made of a special grade of cast iron, allowing for a low overall weight of 19kg, and is mounted directly to the PTO on the vehicle gearbox, so the vehicles don’t require additional hydraulics or run a drive shaft.”

Although FDWA has been using Haar pumps for years, the new ATE tanker semi is the first to be fitted with the German company’s metering system, PreciPURE. Already impressed with the new technology, Graham says he’ll consider fitting the PreciPURE and its rigid version – PreciCONTROL – on all of FDWA’s new tankers from here on out.

“It’s the way of the future,” Graham adds. “To be up-to-date with the latest technology, it’s important to consider fitting all new tankers with the metering systems.”

According to Alfons Haar, all the metering systems in the PreciPURE family have the same interface, explains Haar Australia Director, Ivan Lawrie. “This means that regardless of which version is fitted, be it PreciCONTROL on a rigid or PreciPURE on a semi, drivers can work seamlessly across any vehicle.”
