New boom system and cylinders; redesigned couplings and seals; the HiPro control system and a variable pump as standard – the new Hiab XS622 was designed to provide longer outreach, improved precision and smoother operation in a 58 tm capacity crane. Therefore, it is well prepared to work in the tough environment that is the Australian transport industry.
“Even at maximum reach, lateral deflection on the new Hiab XS622 is negligible, so precise movements can still be achieved,” says Mikael Rietz, Vice President Loader Cranes at Cargotec Corporation.
The secret is in Hiab’s new technical solutions for making the boom system more stable. For instance, the design of the full sequence cylinders has been refined to prevent the crane from unexpected jerky movements during extension or retraction. And on each boom extension a new type of side support has been fitted to stabilise the boom laterally and minimize the play.
“By mounting a Hiab Jib 150X on the crane, you can place the load in positions previously considered inaccessible for cranes of this size. In its most powerful configuration, the maximum outreach on the new XS622 will be 32 metres. The jib is exceedingly flexible and can be angled 25° upwards.”
According to Mikael, installation work and roofing are typical work where you benefit from longer outreach and higher precision. “And the Hiab XS622 fitted with Jib 150X is up to the challenge,” he explains.
“Thanks to new couplings, new seals and optimized piping diameters that ensure the gear is kept cool, the XS622 has less risk of leakage and offers a longer service life.”
E-link and HiPro control system are standard on the new Hiab and these features automatically generate the extra capacity needed for heavy lifts up close. “Fitting a P-boom to the XS622 makes it ideal for loading and unloading machinery, mobile offices and containers,” Mikael adds.
“Despite its considerable capabilities, the new XS622 is still a light crane for its class. With great engineering, we have managed to achieve both increased capacity as well as weight savings.”
