Crane Trucks R Us (CTRU) is a company on the move. Experiencing a substantial growth phase, the company is currently placing more units on the road to meet requirements in an ever-widening range of client applications. The fleet encompasses a mixed bag or truck makes, models and configurations, but one thing remains the same – Palfinger is the truck-mounted crane of choice.

“Our rapidly expanding fleet has the ability to accommodate any transport requirement,” says Managing Director, Fred Mohammed, who began operations in Brisbane in 2003 after recognising opportunities for a family-owned company with an aim to deliver professional and personalised services.

“We actually started with a courier van but soon realised a high level of demand for crane trucks to meet a growing need in the transport and handling of steel and reinforcing products, as well as pipe work, timber and formwork. We also saw a need for transport services associated in the mining, oil and gas construction industries; as well as in industrial rental and government projects, all delivered by highly trained, skilled and experienced staff ensuring all equipment and systems are maintained and monitored in accordance with our stringent management policies,” he says.

Fred makes no bones about the fact that Palfinger cranes have been selected due to, number one, safety in operation and reliability in the field; as well as offering a high degree of backup service if required and on-going quality. “Our company operates to the highest safety levels and Palfinger assists in maintaining our aim to protect both people and the products we handle by offering high-tech solutions for seamless loading and unloading and transport logistics,” Fred points out.

“Palfinger has devoted resources to ensure all aspects of quality assurance and safe operation are consistently maintained, monitored and improved, which fits nicely with our aims to deliver safety and the best in service.”

CTRU operates a range of Palfinger cranes to meet exacting delivery and handling requirements with models including PK4200, PK10000B, PK12000, PK2300, PK15602C and PK3280D to name a few, all providing a variety of reach and lift capacities ideally suited to the task at hand.

The CTRU fleet is available for both long and short-term hire to service any project. It has played a major role in the construction of some of Queensland’s biggest projects including Brisbane’s new M7 Airport Link Tunnel, the Gateway and Ipswich Motorway upgrades, Darling Downs Power Station and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. It is also heavily involved in providing services to mining and exploration across the state.

The Airport Link and integrated bus way was the largest infrastructure project in Australia. Although construction only commenced in 2009, CRTU has been actively involved since December 2008 when the initial stages commenced. Over 350,000 tonnes of steel were required for the project, carted mainly with island cab trucks fitted with Palfinger cranes.

The growing customer base also sees many CTRU trucks based permanently on-site at client production facilities, providing complete transportation and delivery services across a range of activities. “We continue to keep pace with developments across a number of industries and ensure we have the right equipment and the right people in our team to handle the most challenging tasks,” Fred says.

“We also ensure we have people available to look after our clients on a 24 hour a day, seven day a week basis if required, everything tailored to meet the exacting needs of customers and meet or exceed their expectations, we are all about service.

“The fleet is expanding in line with those expectations and we continue to invest in the latest technology. Our philosophy is to approach each project from the customer’s point of view and our staff uses their specialist knowledge to maximise the value generating elements of any transport solution. Every application is different and they are approached individually and with flexibility delivering customers a genuine solution offering the best value to meet requirements,” Fred adds.

While the core business of the company is crane trucks, it has also diversified into other areas such as line haul, trailer rental, warehousing and skills training, bringing other elements into the business.

“Regardless of what we do, it is all about offering the best we can to our customers while using the best equipment, skills and experience to ensure the job is done right the very first time. Equipment enabling us to do that is vitally important, and when it comes to crane trucks, Palfinger is providing the best in handling for our qualified people to provide solutions in all applications,” Fred concludes.
