AJM Transport has announced it will construct a new $3 million facility located on 2.5 hectares of land in the Beresfield industrial estate close to the M1-New England Highway interchange.
Phase one of the build is about to begin and will incorporate offices and a full service facility with a full-length pit capable of handling B-doubles, plus warehouse storage for up to 4,000 pallets. Phase two will see another warehouse being constructed as AJM’s third part logistics business grows.
“We started talking about that building five years ago. We worked out of a shoebox until 2008. It is something we wanted to achieve,” commented Managing Director, Anthony Mansell – revealing that much thought went into the new premises to ensure it will be able to provide quick service turnarounds, as a large proportion of AJM’s work involves shuttles and changeovers.
AJM’s shuttle trucks are at work 24 hours per day for six and a half days of every week and each one covers 11 to 12 thousand kilometres per week.
At the moment, AJM’s fleet consists of 30 prime movers with three more Kenworths currently on order, one of which is rated at 130 tonnes for AJM’s road train work. There are several vans and plenty of utes, as well as two Isuzu rigid trucks. With the trailer sets included, AJM currently has just over 100 pieces of equipment.
