Victorian Transport Association CEO, Peter Anderson, reflects on a tragedy and emphasises the importance of road safety.
“Twelve months ago today, four Victoria Police officers died tragically on Melbourne’s Eastern Freeway in an accident involving a heavy vehicle whilst they were in the line of duty,” said Anderson.
“The incident shocked the Victorian community and the transport industry, which was distraught and saddened by such senseless loss of life.
“Whilst the passage of time is unlikely to have eased the sorrow and grief, the VTA wishes to reiterate its deepest sympathies to friends and families of the victims, to whom we are deeply indebted for their service to the people of Victoria.
“Please join me in taking time today to reflect on their service and sacrifice in helping to make our roads safer for all motorists.”
