Australia Post has opened the doors to its new business hub in the Sydney suburb of Alexandria.
According to Australia Post, the new 6,500 sqm warehouse is almost twice the size of the previous facility and the extra space will allow for additional parcel processing equipment, speeding-up delivery and improving customer service.
Australia Post General Manager Business Hubs, Rebecca Burrows, said the recent upgrade to the Alexandria Business Hub makes it the largest of its kind in Australia.
“The Alexandria Business Hub was part of a $2 billion ‘Future Ready’ investment program announced in 2012 and is the result of a 16 month project to ensure the new facility was fully operational in time for the peak Christmas period,” she said.
“More than 5000 local small and medium businesses – and 350,000 consumers – in the area will benefit from the new facility, which consolidates customer service and sales, letter and parcel operations and delivery functions with parcel collection facilities.
“All over the country, we're transforming the way we do business to support local businesses to grow. Our unique network of Business Hubs provide an integrated, customer-focused, one-stop shop that makes it easier for Australian businesses to connect with their customers.
The new-look Alexandria business hub now includes an inclusive of 24/7 parcel lockers and extended hours for customer collection point, a refurbished bulk mail lodgement centre, 6,500 square metre (sqm) standalone warehouse accommodating a parcel delivery centre and van operations and a 3,500 sqm extension to the existing letter delivery facility to consolidate the Waterloo Delivery operations, which have now moved to the Alexandria site.
