Melbourne-based businessman Manny Camilleri has recently taken delivery of a PBS-approved three-axle rigid and dog tipper combination built by Hamelex White.
“Hamelex White made it easy to get used to the whole PBS idea. The great aspect about PBS is that it factors the trailer’s actual performance on the road instead of focusing on size and length only. That’s not possible under conventional one-size-fits-all rules or the state-based permit system,” said Camilleri, who also manages Camilleri Tarps and hauls on behalf of construction material giant Boral.
“The best thing about the Hamelex White approach is that the whole vehicle is pre-approved, so the registration process is simple and fast. Our new tipper can now carry as much as 49.5 tonnes, and still maintain its stability on the road because of its low centre of gravity.”
To achieve that, Hamelex White designed a Domex-based chassis, complemented by a York axle and suspension system with drum brakes and ABS to achieve maximum in strength and flexibility.
The three-axle tipper combination is the third to join Camilleri’s fleet, which also includes one rigid and a single semi-trailer, all servicing Boral.
