Cargotec Australia has announced the appointment of Maurice Hayes as the new Services Director. According to Cargotec Australia, Hayes brings a fresh focus to customer service in the commercial road transport market.
“I believe attention to detail and communication are the foundation of high quality customer relationship and service,” said Hayes.
A dual qualified Aircraft Engineer and Marine Engineer, Hayes spent the early part of his career working for the Royal Australian Navy. Following his Navy service, Hayes worked for a number of large multinational companies in parts, service, procurement and sales roles, developing successful customer focused business models and delivering high quality outcomes.
“I believe Cargotec, with its load handling daughter brands of Hiab, Moffett, Zepro, Unic, Multilift and Maxilift offer the most comprehensive and competitive range of product solutions in the market today,” Hayes explained.
“With our global experience we are able to provide our existing and potential customers with cost effective, reliable and efficient load handling solutions for a broad range of applications. From construction cranes down to a multi-bed crane mounted on a rigid body, we can provide for a solution to meet the most demanding client’s needs.
“Our key focus to complement our range of products is to further improve on our after sales service. Our goal is to work closely with our clients to understand their needs and provide advice and aftermarket support to ensure our business and our dealers are seen as setting the bench mark for service excellence,” he said.
One of Hayes’ first projects with Cargotec was to manage the transition process following the recent sale of the Cargotec Darwin and Adelaide Load Handling Service businesses to RGM Maintenance.
RGM is an Australian Owned company and are Australian Military vehicle sustainment specialists for through life support. RGM currently has three facilities around Australia – Brisbane, Townsville and Darwin (and a Field Service site in Katherine) and employs 55 staff nationally, made up of a highly experienced contingent of qualified and certified providers of mechanical solutions, particularly to the defence industry. The strategy behind the sale was to strengthen after sales service to Cargotec Load Handling customers in both Darwin and Adelaide.
“To support our expanding dealer aftermarket model, we are restructuring and recruiting to boost our factory engineering and technical field service departments,” Hayes said. “We also need to provide our existing staff with additional resources, training, support and guidance in what they are undertaking to meet and exceed the needs of our clients.
“By developing these technical resources, we have both the capability and capacity to handle all load handling application projects, which will provide the level of support our dealers and customers demand.
“Our objective is to work as a consultant for our customers – to understand their business, to analyse their issues and then to develop a tailored solution to meet their needs. Fostering a closer relationship is what will ultimately drive Cargotec Australia forward,” Hayes added.
Cargotec Australia is part of the global Cargotec Corporation – a Finnish company whose global network provides cargo and load-handling solutions including Hiab cranes, Moffett forklifts, Kalmar container handlers and MacGregor shipping equipment.
