DB Schenker’s New Zealand-based partner, SB Global Logistics, has opened a new $10 million office and warehouse facility at Dakota Park, near Christchurch Airport.
According to DB Schenker, the new 5000 square meter logistics facility brings all the company’s activities under one roof with extensive space on the 13,500 square meter site for further expansion.
“Growth in International Freight Forwarding and Third Party Logistics today is systematic of the sophistication of global trade and also the continued emergence of huge markets such as India and China,” said Steve Bateman, Director of SB Global Logistics.
“For instance, e-commerce is forcing us to become more advanced in the way we do business. We have companies, sometimes selling individual units, requiring us to not only warehouse their products, but sometimes conduct quality control, re-label, re-package and provide customised packaging.
“One of the points that separate us from our competition is the unique and distinctive partnership we have with one of the world’s leading logistics provider DB Schenker. This relationship celebrates in 2015 – 25 years of doing business together in New Zealand – and has had many highlights as our companies have worked together to build a professional and respected brand in the South Island Market.”
Ron Koehler, Schenker Australia CEO AU/NZ, added, “We are extremely happy with our long standing partnership SB Global Logistics and 25 years is a testimony of our commitment to our mutual success. The new facility is outstanding and congratulations to Steve Bateman and his management team in their investment and vision for the future.”
