Queensland Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace has announced that residents in the north Queensland region of Mackay will be given the opportunity to have their say on the development of a new road plan for the Bruce Highway, including on issues of traffic flow and road safety. This feedback will be used to assist engineers and road planners in developing a plan for the highway.
Minister Wallace said, “The strategy will focus on potential upgrades to the Bruce Highway between the Hay Point Road turn-off in the south and Bald Hill Road in the north.”
He continued, “We want to take a fresh look at road infrastructure in the region and what needs to be done to meet the future needs of motorists and other road users.
“We want to hear from the local community on a range of issues such as intersection upgrades, extra lanes and the needs of pedestrians and cyclists.”
Public information days will take place on June 16 at the Mackay Entertainment and Convention Centre from 2pm and 8pm, and on June 22 at the Windmill Hotel between 2pm and 8pm.
