Victorian-based transport company, GBR Transport, has donated food and drinks to the hundreds of firefighters battling the Aberfeldy – Donnellys fires in Victoria’s east.
According to GBR Transport’s General Manager, Paul English, the donation run was a joint effort by GBR’s suppliers and the team itself.
“We mentioned to Woolworths that the firefighters needed some water, and the next morning we were told there were over 2,500 bottles ready for us to take down,” English said. “Fresh Start Bakery and Inghams also generously donated boxes of rolls and shashlicks for the run.
“The firefighters at the tent city were very grateful for the support. They were working 12 hour days and were particularly worried about running out of water, so our donations were really appreciated.”
