Queensland's Graham Lusty Trailers has increased its involvement in the PBS market. The company recently presented the first A-double PBS combination it has ever built – including a Drop Deck Tip Over Axle.
According to Director James Yerbury, who is responsible for the new design, the multi-combination trailer will be able to run existing mass limits and is pre-approved for the 85.5-tonne axle limits once the route has passed the next level of assessments.
“In the past, road trains have been restricted to remote areas, on-road performance and overall length have made it unsuitable for large centres of population, largely populated B-doubles,” said James.
“Since we have PBS, all that has changed. The A-double is still a simple combination, but now using our tested drop deck tipper designs, we have been able to increase the volume and lower the centre of gravity while maintaining the heightened safety standards PBS vehicles. We’re very proud to be able to contribute to improving the productivity of our industry.”
Built on behalf of White’s Outback Bulk Haulage, the A-double has gone into operation straight after the Brisbane Truck Show in May.
