Family-owned bakery Mrs Mac’s has taken delivery of 16 brand new multi-purpose rigids built by Victorian-based body building specialist, Genuine Truck Bodies (GTB), which will be used to deliver fresh frozen food Australia-wide.
“For years, we had been using Rand Transport in WA to freight all our frozen stock around the country. That’s why we got in touch with the guys at Automotive Holding Group (AHG), the parent company of Rand and GTB, who recommended talking to GTB in Melbourne,” said Richard Toy, Transport Supervisor at Mrs Mac’s in Perth.
According to Mrs Mac’s, each of the 16 bodies were built to suit Hino 500 Series trucks from WA Hino, another AHG-owned company. All units were also fitted with Zanotti refrigeration units capable of lowering the temperature to -30 degrees.
“To sum it up, it’s basically a mobile fridge/freezer on wheels that can carry up to eight pallets of load at a time and with all the accessories needed to secure frozen pies in the front, as well as cakes, milk, sandwiches and sushi in the back,” Toy said.
