2012 has been a busy year for Australia’s largest road transport equipment conglomerate, MaxiTRANS. In May, the company announced the acquisition of Bundaberg-based brand AZMEB as part of a strategy to expand further into the mining and resources industry; and in September, it acquired 80 per cent of South Australian trailer dealership, Transport Connection. In March, MaxiTRANS also acquired Queensland Diesel Spares (QDS) in a move to extend on its existing wholesale and retail parts business, Colrain.
Inspired by the parent company’s multi-dimensional growth plan, Hamelex White has been using the momentum to shape the brand’s profile and expand its national footprint.
“In today's business environment, success largely depends on matching your dealer network to consumer demand,” says General Manager, Craig Wallace. “Knowing that optimising your dealer network – in terms of the number of dealerships, dealership size and dealership location – is more critical than ever before, we didn’t hesitate to tackle the issue when the parent company moved forward in 2012.
“For us at Hamelex White, improving our distribution channels is an on-going challenge to provide convenient access for our customers to service, support and sales value,” he adds. “And as part of MaxiTRANS, we have access to the country’s largest pool of trailer-specific knowledge to constantly work on it.”
In line with that strategy, Hamelex White has recently appointed Trailer Sales as the brand’s exclusive representative in Queensland and Northern NSW.
According to Craig, the move is the result of a careful review of the brand’s distribution options. “Trailer Sales is Queensland’s pre-eminent supplier of semi-trailers, parts and service, having been the Queensland distributor for the Freighter and Maxi-CUBE brands for many years,” says Craig. “With locations in North Queensland and Brisbane, it currently holds the Hamelex White distribution rights in North Queensland only, so it makes sense to have them handle the entire state.
“I believe that we have found the best possible solution for our clientele. Experience has shown that Queensland customers will be best served by having one dedicated dealer acting as a true one-stop-shop in multiple locations.
Mark Kelly, Dealer Principal of Trailer Sales, agreed. “This move will provide Hamelex White customers with a greater focus on sales and service in the state, thanks to wide-ranging support from our two substantial facilities in Rocklea and Townsville. Coupled with additional sales staff and increased stock holdings, we intend to provide the Queensland market with greater access to the Hamelex White product.”
