Transport and logistics expert Lindsay Transport recently celebrated its 60th anniversary crediting a large part of that success to its strong relationship with refrigerated equipment specialist Thermo King.
“Our relationship with Thermo King goes back almost 30 years, and we started using their units ‘exclusively’ for the past 15 years,” said Nick Lindsay, third-generation family member and Lindsay Transport’s National Maintenance Manager.
The most popular Thermo King model in the vast Lindsay Transport fleet is the SLX-400, which are designed to reduce fuel cost, engine emission and operating noise all at once. “Since 2008, the SLX range is our first choice for a B-double combination,” says Chris Mears, Lindsay Transport’s Refrigeration Manager. “On top of that, we have also started to implement Thermo King’s innovative Smart Reefer 3 (SR-3) Controllers across the fleet to manage the temperatures on board. At the moment, more than 200 units are using that system.”
According to Nick, the decision to fit Thermo King as standard some 15 years ago was based on the company’s product reliability, technical adaptability and strong understanding of the Lindsay Transport philosophy.
“Thermo King continually remain at the forefront for supplying us with refrigerated transport equipment to suit all the different applications we have, from our singles to complex multi-temperature vehicles, where there are three separate areas to cool. It’s a very flexible product,” he says.
“Of course the 24/7 support services network in every state is a plus too, because we know no matter where our vehicles are, if there’s an issue with the refrigeration equipment, Thermo King’s staff are there to help.
Established in 1953, Lindsay Transport is a commercial freight business that was started by brothers Peter and Tom Lindsay at Coffs Harbour in NSW. Since that time Lindsay has established itself as a leading force in refrigerated food transport operating throughout Australia.
