Transport company Mainfreight has announced plans to expand its Sydney-based freight depot after having secured land next to its existing “supersite” in Prestons.
According to Mainfreight, the new land acquisition will allow the company to add another 25 metres to the raised freight dock, thereby relieving congestion for waiting trailers and drivers wanting to cross-dock freight. The raised docks will allow all freight to be contained in a “visible and controlled area” and “improve accuracy and safety” when loading freight for transport. In addition, the end of the dock will also feature seven dock levellers.
“With the additional space, the extension provides space for 20 more vehicles to be loaded at any given time. This extra efficiency will allow greater speed and control when moving your product. The extra room will add enormous benefit to our operations team, drivers and in turn our customers,” said Mike Reid, Sydney Branch Manager.
The building will also be designed to cater for B-double access with the new extension to have more hard stand space at the back of the building to improve access for other large vehicles.
