Queensland-based transport company Masondale Heavy Haulage has recently taken delivery of a new quad-axle low loader designed by trailer specialist J Smith & Sons.
According to Gavin Lorensen, Operations Manager of Masondale’s Float Division, the new quad-axle model is based on Smith’s very own hydraulic suspension system offering individual wheel lift for improved economy and easy wheel maintenance – even in a heavy-duty set-up with a payload of up to 50 tonnes.
“We believe the hydraulic suspension is somewhat of a game-changer in our niche market,” he said. “We’ve only used airbag suspensions before so it was a bit of a change, but sometimes that’s necessary to reach that next level. When traveling back to Victory Heights, the operator can raise two axles and save on both tyre wear and fuel consumption.”
