The National Bulk Transport Association (NBTA) has revealed the program for Bulk Tanker Day, to be held at Sandown Racecourse in Melbourne on 4 September.
The event will be opened by the CEO of the National Transport Commission, Paul Retter. The day will include workshops, as well as hands on demonstrations.
“Tankers have been under the spotlight in the last 9 months,” said Rob Perkins, Executive Director, NBTA. “We will hear from RMS NSW, EPA NSW and VicRoads on their inspections and plans as well as interactive workshops across brakes, suspension and couplings from leading OEM's.”
Victoria's Country Fire Authority (CFA), along with the Canberra and Regions Oil Industry Emergency Response Group (CROIERG) will run a mock incident and response. Fire units, response trailers and tankers will show the challenges that may be faced in this situation.
The program also includes a Braking Forum to assist operators in fitting RSP and understanding how it works.
