Linfox transports historic RAAF aircraft to Townsville

Transport and logistics company, Linfox, has been tasked with transporting two Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) restorations.

The Mirage A3-55 and a Winjeel Trainer A85-403 will move this weekend from RAAF Base Amberley to their new home at RAAF Townsville Aviation Heritage Centre.

"This follows months of planning by the Linfox Special Projects team and specialist heavy haulage partners, Edge Heavy Logistics to ensure a safe and successful move," Linfox said in a statement.

The planned route and timings for the Mirage convoy:

Friday 31 July 2020 – Convoy departs Amberley  ~0015 hours- Route A2 (Warrego Hwy) – Toowoomba Bypass, Dalby, Chinchilla, Miles; Route A5 (Leichhardt Hwy) – Wandoan, Taroom, Theodore, Banana.

Saturday 01 August 2020 – Convoy departs Banana ~0600 hours. Route A5 – Dululu; Route A4 (Capricorn Hwy) – Dingo; Route 67 (Fitzroy Development Rd) and Route 70 (Peak Downs Rd) – Moranbah

Sunday 02 August 2020 – Convoy departs Moranbah ~0600 hours. Route 70/A7 (Gregory Hwy) – Belyando Crossing, Charters Towers, Route A6 (Flinders Hwy) – RAAF Base Townsville.
