The Pratt Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Pratt Family and Visy, has donated $1.0 million to a Covid-19 treatment trial.

The Foundation donated the funds to the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne which will be used in a trial of existing HIV and arthritis drugs that could be used to treat Covid-19.

The trial involves 2,440 people over 60 days in 60 hospitals across Australia and New Zealand.

In other news, The Pratt Foundation contributed $250,000 to a Victorian Police Legacy Fund to assist the families of the police officers who lost their lives in the recent Eastern Freeway incident in Melbourne.

The Pratt Foundation was established in 1978 in Melbourne by Jeanne and Richard Pratt. The Foundation and the wider entity Pratt Philanthropies are now among the largest private sources of philanthropy in Australia.
