New South Wales-based, Blue Chip Specialised Services, has recently taken delivery of its first-ever 25m aluminium B-double tanker built by ATE Tankers.
According to Blue Chip, the main objective for acquiring the B-double combination, which complies with Australian standards for Dangerous Goods, is to carry more than 48,000 litres of oil, which is used for a variety of tasks in the mining and agricultural sectors.
“OH&S is also a very important aspect whenever we bring in new equipment,” said Howard French, Managing Director of Blue Chip, a division of Renewable Oil Services based in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales.
“That’s why we had ATE design the B-double to suit mine specifications including the use of hand rails to ensure the operator has three points of contact at all times when climbing onto the tanker; a fire extinguisher in case of an emergency; and all couplings positioned or covered in such a way so as to not create a potential hazard to operators, thus preventing the risk of clothing or hands becoming caught.”
The addition of the B-double combination adds to the company’s growing fleet that already has a 14,000-litre rigid and a tandem-axle tanker, both purchased from ATE Tankers back in 2010, as well as a tri-axle semi-tanker, two curtain-siders, one drop deck trailer and one semi-tipper.
