New South Wales has begun the process of getting in line with the new national truck laws with the introduction of the Road Transport Bill 2013 into the NSW Legislative Assembly, according to the Australian Transport Association (ATA).
NSW Minister for Transport Gladys Berejiklian introduced the bill last Tuesday, along with the Road Transport Legislation (Repeal and Amendment) and Road Transport (Statutory Rules) bills.
“These bills consolidate New South Wales road transport legislation and prepare for the eventual adoption of the Heavy Vehicle National Law in this state,” she said.
“These bills not only cut the number and reduce the volume of statutes but also remove anomalies, inconsistency and a degree of complexity in the legislation that impacts on every citizen in New South Wales.”
The bills are scheduled for debate on Tuesday 26 February.
