The one tonne tri-axle mass transfer allowance policy is scheduled to commence on 29 September 2014. It will allow operators to exceed the current 20-tonne General Mass Limit (GML) per tri-axle group by one tonne.
While this does not permit any increase to the vehicle’s maximum total mass, it does grant more flexibility in the way mass is distributed across axle groups. Further details and an information sheet will be released by the NHVR later this month.
