New South Wales based refrigerated freight business, P&N Logistics, is now using the Fresh InTransit system developed by fleet monitoring specialist, Cooltrax, and is now fitted to all 16 sets of refrigerated B-double vans.
“Being able to remotely control the temperatures on the trailers is something the refrigerated transport sector has been crying out for, for years,” said Peter Cheney of P&N Logistics.
“I certainly knew that technology would develop quite well and once we started P&N Logistics, Natalie and I kept tabs on the developments of the technology through the market. From there, we started looking into several companies who we thought had the system that suited us. We even attended numerous industry trade shows to see how it all worked. Eventually, our research brought us to Cooltrax and in 2013, we decided to implement their technology.”
According to Cheney, while the temperatures on board each van are powered by Thermo King’s units, Cooltrax’s Fresh InTransit monitors all aspects of the performance of the fridge unit, and provides independent temperature monitoring using wireless technology that is relayed back to P&N Logistics’ headquarters. The system can also create, view and schedule reports on key performance indicators or provide historical data.
“The feedback from our customers has been mostly impressive, especially now that we can provide them with up-to-the-minute information such as current temperatures and where the trailers are situated,” he added.
