Rentco Racing’s Kris “Killa” Walton won the final round of the 2013 V8 Ute Series at Sydney’s Olympic Park last Sunday.
The Ford driver won the first race by more than seven seconds ahead of David Sieders. In the second race, Walton started from 9th position and worked his way to rank three with some great passing on the tight Sydney streets. In race three, Walton started from pole and was beaten to the first turn by Sieders, who took the win from there.
Meanwhile, fellow Ford driver Ryal Harris (Gold Coast) claimed his second straight V8 Ute title, with a conservative run to finish 7th on the day.
Harris only had to finish the race in his Ford to take the title for Big Gun Racing, finishing 30 points clear of Nathan Pretty, who claimed second overall in a Holden, 10 points ahead of Perth driver Rhys McNally in the second-best Holden.
Rentco driver Walton finished the year in 5th position, missing rank four by a single point. Despite a race win taken from the team in Adelaide and a 35-point penalty late season, Rentco was honoured as the Team of the Year in Sydney, ending the season on a strong note.
“Bring on 2014, we will be stronger and faster,” the team said in a statement. “Thanks to everyone who has supported us in 2013, we loved having you along for the ride.”
