Rugby League legend appointed ambassador

Shane Webcke is the first person to be appointed as an official ambassador for the Brisbane Truck Show in its 40+ year history.

Shane has played 21 State of Origins and 263 first-grade games for the Brisbane Broncos. He will become the ‘public face’ of all print, radio and television commercials and pre-show promotional events for the 2011 Brisbane Truck Show.

The Brisbane Truck Show is owned and run with the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ).

Chief Executive of the CVIAQ, Brett Wright said that the appointment of a show ambassador was driven by the need to communicate the move to a new venue and the new focus as a transport only event.

In 2011, the show will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

“It is a very important, very exciting move for us and we needed someone who we could entrust that message to and Shane became the obvious choice for us as a show ambassador,” said Brett. “Shane stood out because he is very well respected in all aspects of his life, not just football, he is a very competent speaker, he is an intelligent man, and he has real experience in our industry.”
