The third annual Sandown Drive Days is next week. The event to be hosted by the Victorian Transport Association (VTA), will be held at the Sandown Racecourse from March 7–8.
The event includes working demonstrations of trucks, trailers, vans, cars and motorcycles. The latest advances in technology, workplace safety solutions and best practice maintenance will be demonstrated, as well as sessions on motorcycle safety, PBS vehicles and bulk tanker emergency response.
“After months of planning, we are excited to present the best-ever Sandown Drive Days to the transport industry,” said Neil Chambers, CEO of the VTA. “This is the third event of its kind, and it is becoming renowned as the best interactive, hands-on event that demonstrates the latest technologies and innovations of our industry.”
One feature at Sandown will be the tanker roll over exercise as well as a WorkSafe-led tanker inspection to be conducted by the National Bulk Transport Association (NBTA) in conjunction with the Canberra and Regions Oil Industry Emergency Response Group, Transport Industry Skills Centre and WorkSafe. According to the NBTA, the tanker exercise will use an actual tanker that is on its side. It will demonstrate the co-ordination and skills needed to successfully recover both the product and the vehicle.
