Hills Tankers Chief Operations Officer, Scott Cullen, has resigned.
Cullen has decided to step away from Hills Tankers after spending more than 10 years at the business in several roles.
He first joined Hills Tankers in 2015 as a fleet coordinator, and worked his way up from Operations Manager to National Operations Manager and then Chief Operations Officer in December of 2022.
Cullen said his resignation was necessary in order to better focus on his health and future.
“Leaving a workplace where your colleagues have become family is one of the hardest decisions you’ll ever make,” he said.
“Following a health scare last year and the recent loss of another friend far too young, it became clear that it was time to reassess my priorities and focus on a healthier, more balanced future.”
Cullen extended his gratitude to the Hills Tankers team for the opportunities, trust and support they have provided him and his family with over the last decade.
“I want to sincerely thank Andrew, Vicki, Hannah and Jordan Hill,” he said.
“The way we’ve been treated has been second to none, and I’ll always be grateful.
“To Jason Tyler, Dean Smith, Mark Goosen, Allana Alcorn, Sean Short, Jess Locke and all of the depot teams across the business – thank you for your friendship, professionalism and the many memories we’ve shared.”
Cullen also gave a special mention to Hills Tankers Chief Safety and Compliance Officer, Shaun Cavanough, for the friendship they built at the company.
“We’ve worked side by side for 13 years, and it’s rare to find someone you trust so completely that you never need to check each other’s work – you simply know it will be done right,” he said.
“More importantly, you’ve become a great mate, and I’m grateful for that friendship.
“I’d also like to thank Kyra Crawford, who was there for me during one of the toughest periods of my life last year. Your friendship and support have meant more than you’ll ever know, not only to me but also to Steph and Kobe.
“Finally, to my wife, Stephanie Cullen – thank you for your unwavering support over the years. You’ve spent countless weeks at home while I travelled for work, never once complaining or questioning the sacrifices. I couldn’t have done any of this without you.
“To everyone at Hills Tankers and all our customers and suppliers thank you for the opportunities, the friendships, and the memories. I’ll always look back on my time here with pride and gratitude.”
