Adelaide-based Southern Cross Trailers is set to capture the curtain-sider market in New South Wales and Queensland, according to General Manager Brad Carpenter.
At the ITTES in March, the South Australian company displayed a 7.45m lead drop deck Soft Sider, staking their claim to gain market share across the Eastern Seaboard. Fitted with Euro Air-200 tri-axle underslung airbag suspension and Fuwa K-Hitch axles with parallel bearings and 10 stud hubs, the trailer was meant to accentuate the brand’s expertise in the curtain-sider segment.
Complete with a single sheet aluminium roof with aluminium roof bows, Attard drop deck curtains and a single mezzanine deck to the lower level; the trailer was finished with Proforge 10 stud alloy wheels, a Holland FW331 50mm greaseless turntable, drop deck lightweight gates, a strap type sliding gate system, and Narva LED multi-volt lighting.
“We see big potential in the curtain-sider market,” said General Manager Brad Carpenter. “We have always been present in South Australia and Victoria, but we now want to expand our presence to the eastern seaboard as well. What makes us different is that we are open to any idea and always try to come up with a solution that will make a job that little bit easier to improve your daily work,” he added.
Established in 1976, Southern Cross Trailers supplied the local and national transport industry with a broad range of trailing equipment including flat top and drop deck semi trailers and extendable trailers, deck widening trailers, skeletals, tipping skeletals, low loaders, Softsider curtain trailers and dollies.
