Veteran transport advocate, Senator Glenn Sterle, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the 2026 VTA State Conference.
The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has confirmed Senator Glenn Sterle as a featured speaker at its 2026 State Conference, to be held from 22–24 March at Silverwater Resort, Phillip Island.
A long-time advocate for Australia’s freight and logistics sector, Senator Sterle offers a rare blend of hands-on industry experience and federal policy insight.
Prior to entering parliament, he worked across road freight as both a company driver and owner-driver, operating routes through Western Australia’s Pilbara and Kimberley regions as well as the Northern Territory.
That practical grounding continues to inform his parliamentary work, where he has been a consistent voice on issues including safety, productivity and supply chain sustainability.
Senator Sterle has also maintained a strong relationship with the VTA, contributing to previous State Conferences and engaging closely with industry stakeholders.
VTA CEO, Peter Anderson, said Senator Sterle’s contribution would be particularly valuable as the sector navigates significant change.
“Glenn brings a lived understanding of the pressures facing operators — from fatigue management and compliance to cost control and customer demands,” said Anderson.
“That perspective is critical as the industry responds to regulatory reform, technology adoption and workforce challenges.”
The 2026 conference theme ‘Freight Never Stops’ reflects the increasing scale and complexity of Victoria’s freight task which is forecast to double by 2050.
Across three days, delegates will hear from government, technology leaders and industry experts, with sessions covering safety, compliance, workforce development, productivity and sustainability.
