Established in 1987, West Tip Waste Management has been providing Perth, Western Australia, with dependable rubbish removal and recycling services for almost 40 years now.
Stationed within the waste management industry, the business specialises in transport and processing waste from commercial, industrial, construction and demolition jobs as well as managing transfer stations on behalf of local councils.
West Tip Waste Management’s operation spans more than 60 trucks, over 100 staff members and more than 4,000 hooklifts and skip bins. Yet the true workhorses of its fleet are two trailers fitted with KEITH Walking Floor systems which have significantly streamlined the process of unloading waste.
“Their main freight task is transporting waste from our own transfer stations and council transfer stations to waste, energy or landfill sites,” says West Tip Waste Management General Manager, Stefan Todoroski. “We cart municipal solid waste, residuals from our construction and demolition processing as well as residuals from our commercial and industrial processing.”
The KEITH Walking Floor systems have increased West Tip Waste Management’s efficiency by substantially speeding up unload times compared to conventional tippers. A bonus is the fact that the units operate at extremely low tare weights while still boasting a solid construction.
“KEITH Walking Floor unloaders are definitely the way to go if you’re carting municipal solid waste, construction and demolition residuals and commercial and industrial residuals,” Stefan says. “It’s a very robust system with a fast unload time, and those are the two main things anyone in this industry would be looking for.
“You want to get in and out of the tip as fast as you can, and you want to have the least amount of repair and maintenance as possible.”
Stefan says the KEITH Walking Floor system is a “very solid, well-built and low-maintenance unit” which takes whatever his operations throw at it.
“They’re aluminium slats, but they hold up really well,” he says. “We’ve found them to be very durable in harsh operating conditions. The KEITH Walking Floor applications are taking all of the abuse they get.”
All of these advantages are joined by one of the biggest factors in transport – safety. Stefan says the KEITH Walking Floor avoids all of the dangers associated with tipper trailers.
“Tippers are very hard wearing, but they do have a risk of tipping over when you’re unloading on a landfill surface,” he explains. “There’s pretty much no safety risk with the KEITH Walking Floor system because you just roll up to wherever you need to be and start unloading.”
The KEITH Walking Floor system has delivered major productivity gains to West Tip Waste Management while ensuring increased safety within its operations. This, and the fact that the business receives outstanding aftersales support, is why Stefan has placed his ongoing trust in the product.
“We’ve received the best support from KEITH,” he explains. “Their sales representatives have flown over two or three times in the last year to touch base with us, to see how things are going and to walk us through the system in terms of things to look out for and how to maintain it.
“KEITH are great with parts, too. There were a few little spare parts we needed recently, and they just sent them over and we got them replaced. There were no questions asked.
“The KEITH Walking Floor has been great in our operations and I’m looking forward to more in the future.”
