The Victorian Transport Association (VTA) has paid tribute to outgoing Victorian Treasurer, Tim Pallas.
His 10 years as Treasurer of Victoria, according to the VTA, has left a profound legacy, particularly through his leadership in helping to deliver transformative infrastructure projects that will benefit Victorians for generations.
“As they start to come on stream, major initiatives such as the Level Crossing Removal Project, Melbourne Metro Tunnel, West Gate Tunnel, and North East Link will alleviate congestion, improving safety and enhancing productivity for transport operators,” the VTA said in a statement.
“As industrial relations minister, Pallas has been a strong advocate for the freight and logistics industry, championing fair workplace conditions through updated wages policies, enterprise agreements, and labour hire regulations.
“His support for reforms to the Fair Work Act and Wage Inspectorate Victoria has promoted fairness, transparency, and compliance, helping to create a stable and sustainable industrial environment for freight operators and workers alike.”
VTA CEO, Peter Anderson, thanked Pallas for his service to the people of Victoria and his significant contributions to infrastructure and economic development.
“Tim has always understood the vital role transport and logistics play in driving the state’s economy and enhancing liveability for all Victorians,” he said.
“His stewardship of major transport infrastructure projects has been instrumental in improving efficiency and safety for our industry.”
Anderson also acknowledged Pallas’ strong and sustained engagement with the VTA and its members.
“As a friend of the VTA Tim has been a regular at our State Conferences, industry breakfasts, and seminars over the years, taking the time to listen to our members’ concerns and provide meaningful insights into government policy,” said Anderson.
“His support and open dialogue have been invaluable in helping the VTA advocate for practical solutions to the challenges facing transport operators.
“We wish Tim all the very best for the future and thank him for his remarkable service to our state.”
