Specifically designed for moving agricultural commodities, the new KEITH PRESSURE SEAL® PS+ Series flooring will offer transport companies a number of measurable advantages, says Zyggy Reinoga, Sales Manager of KEITH WALKING FLOOR Australia.
“The patented design provides a positive seal to stop fine materials from sifting through the trailer,” says Zyggy. “The floor slats also feature a full-length, integrated hold-down. This eliminates the need for T-Blocks, making the system lighter and easier to install.”
The PRESSURE SEAL® PS+ floor slats are available in “UHMW” (ultra high molecular weight plastic) and a range of aluminium thicknesses. Like the original PRESSURE SEAL® floor, when a load is placed on the floor, the downward pressure pushes the slats tight against the full length bearing strips, creating a positive seal. “This feature makes the flooring ideal for livestock feed, fertilizer, peat moss, compost and seed,” Zyggy resumes.
A walking floor system is a horizontal unloader, eliminating the need for tipping or dumping. Floor slats run the length of the trailer floor. Actuated by a four-phase hydraulic drive, slats move in groups of three, then together. This four-phase sequence “walks” material out.
In phase one, every third plank moves under the load. In stage two, the second group of every third plank moves. Then, in stage three, the final group of every third plank moves under the load before all planks move together in the final phase, pushing the load toward the discharge end.
All KEITH systems can be bi-directional for both loading and unloading product. “And with few moving parts, the systems are durable and low in maintenance,” Zyggy adds. “In addition to the mobile systems used in trailers, KEITH also custom engineers and builds stationary systems.
